From April 25 to 27, 2025, the ECIA Conference SUBSTANCE took place as a hybrid event. At its core were key questions concerning the role of interior architecture within the European educational and research context.
 
In his lecture “Why it is so important to become an Interior Architect?”, René Pier presented the revised ECIA Charter of Interior Architectural Training (2020).
 
He highlighted the importance of user-oriented education, a responsible approach to the existing building stock, and the role of interior architecture in creating a sustainable future. His central message: Good architecture starts from inside – with a deep understanding of the people in the space.
