MUNICIPAL LIBRARY
COMPETITION 2. PHASE

Germany

The tectonic shift of volumes in the architecture defines the entrance and orientation of the terrace. This concept of bedding forms was applied to an interior design scale and varied.

In the youth library, rooms are formed by folding surfaces in strong colours. The PC workstations and game consoles are housed in open room structures, as if on an unrolled strip, which nevertheless separate and thus allow to retreat.

The perspective of children is different from that of adults, the focus is lower. The room is designed here as a landscape which develops from layers and densifications.

As the heart, the non-fiction book department represents the largest spatial structure and is compactly designed as a two-storey „knowledge store“. Here, all areas can be found equally next to each other and the mission of a municipal library to impart knowledge can be experienced in concrete terms.
