KIRCHHEIDE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
COMPETITION 2. ROUND
Germany
Kirchheide Primary School is intended to be more than just a building. It becomes a place of living and learning for children, for the educational team and for the entire neighborhood.
Our design follows the guiding principle: “Pedagogy shapes architecture.”
Two learning clusters with open central zones, breakout rooms, after-school care areas and team stations foster relationships, participation and individual learning. Flexible layouts, transparent transitions and diverse opportunities for movement create an environment that encourages trust and independence.
Nature is not a backdrop but a partner in learning. Indoor and outdoor spaces are closely interwoven to form sensory learning landscapes, from classrooms to orchard meadows.
Forum, assembly hall and library open the school to the neighborhood. Education becomes a shared public space.
This sustainable new building integrates gently into the surrounding landscape and is ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
